Joe Ellig

Joe Ellig grew up in Fergus Falls and graduated from University of North Dakota Law School in May of 2007. He joined the firm in the fall of 2007 and is a partner at the firm. His addition to the firm rounded it out as a true family law practice. The five attorneys at Nycklemoe & Ellig are two father-sons: David and Rolf Nycklemoe and Van and Joe Ellig, and Joe’s wife, Kelsee Macintosh-Ellig.
Joe works primarily in the areas of workers' compensation and personal injury. He also does bankruptcy and family law, which includes divorce and custody issues. Joe is also proud to be the prosecutor for the great City of Fergus Falls.
Joe is a tough, but fair attorney that fights hard for his clients, while providing them with sound, easy to understand advice through the duration of their case. Joe is no stranger to the courtroom. He has had many jury trials, court trials and various contested motions. He is not afraid of taking your case “to court,” but also understands the value of negotiating fair settlements to avoid unnecessary expenses.
Additionally, Joe and his father, Van, also of Nyckelmoe & Ellig, P.A., are part of one of the few "Plaintiffs only" law firms regarding personal injury and workers compensation matters in rural Minnesota. Joe lives in Fergus Falls, MN, with his wife Kelsee. She works as a custody evaluator and is also a great lawyer. They have an awesome daughter along with a blonde lab, Mia. When not spending time with his family, you likely can find him out hunting or fishing somewhere.
Rolf Nycklemoe

Rolf is a lifelong resident of Fergus Falls, whose practice is focused on the areas of municipal law, estate planning (wills and trusts), probate administration (including probate litigation), residential and commercial real estate, and elder law.
Rolf is currently the City Attorney for Fergus Falls.
Rolf received his J.D. Degree from Hamlin University, St. Paul, Minnesota in 1992. Rolf obtained his undergraduate degree, a BA in Religion with high honors, from Concordia College, Moorhead, Minnesota, in 1988.
Rolf grew up in Fergus Falls. He currently resides in Fergus Falls with his wife, Bobbi Nycklemoe, a high school Spanish and French teacher, and his four beautiful daughters, Greta, Ingrid, Lena, and Brigetta.
Rolf served on a number of community boards and has been active in many civic organizations, along with serving on his church board.
David Nycklemoe

Over the course of the years of his practice, he has served with distinction in the area of law relating to estate planning, probate administration, guardianship/conservatorship proceedings and areas dealing with family succession and other business related issues. He is well known for his practice in real property law and municipal law, having served as the City Attorney for the City of Fergus Falls and other communities for over 30 years.
David, and his wife Tudy, have three children and nine grandchildren. They both feel family is the core issue of life and they strive to spend time in various physical activities with their grandchildren.
David has served in various civic areas of responsibility including a unique ability in fundraising for various issues in the community. He has been an active board member at Pioneer Home, Inc., Lutheran Social Services of Minnesota, Fergus Falls Fish & Game Club Foundation, Inc., Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Farmers State Bank of Underwood, etc.
Mr. Nycklemoe has a unique ability to obtain consensus when representing diverse issues in almost any aspect of personal or business life. He is an active, seasoned attorney who, over the course of years of his practice, has been involved in numerous issues and been able to successfully represent his clients to a successful and satisfying conclusion.
Van Ellig

Van R. Ellig is a Minnesota-born trial attorney who practices primarily in personal injury, workers compensation and environmental law. He is licensed in Minnesota, South Dakota, and North Dakota. He attended Fergus Falls Junior College, North Dakota State University, and graduated from Hamline School of Law in 1976. Mr. Ellig is a no nonsense, aggressive attorney who enjoys fighting for those who have been injured in an unwelcomed and unasked for accident. He is qualified and licensed as a neutral arbitrator and regularly conducts arbitrations at the request of other law firms. He has been a speaker at many environmental conferences due to his serving as the Chairperson and Board Member of the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency by appointment of the Governor.
Van and Jo Eve Ellig have five children, two of which are attorneys. They enjoy their four grandchildren and a popular pastime is taking the kids fishing. In years past Van operated a successful goose guiding business with his son Joseph, who is now a partner with the Nycklemoe & Ellig Law Firm. Van proudly recounts his days as an Eagle and Pro deo etpatria Scout which later lead to him becoming a Scout Master for his troupe in Fergus Falls. He has served in dozens of civic leadership capacities and gained valuable experience as an elected County Commissioner for Otter Tail County in 1984. In his spare time, the Elligs fish and hunt at their lake cabin near Walker, Minnesota, have planted thousands of trees and restored many acres of wetlands on their farms in Otter Tail County.
Van draws great satisfaction from helping people reclaim their lives after being the victims of an unwelcomed accident. Whether it be a dog bite, car accident, or the loss of a loved one at the hands of a drunken driver, the roll of the underdog and engaging in legal battle with insurance companies has been met with great success for Van and his clients. People are in an accident and their lives are suddenly turned upside down and the pressures that come to bare not only recovering from a medical standpoint, but just trying to pay the bills, are overwhelming. Kelsee Macintosh-Ellig

Kelsee Macintosh-Ellig graduated from the University of North Dakota in 2003 with a B.A. in Psychology and in 2006 from the University of North Dakota School of Law. Kelsee also joined Nycklemoe and Ellig as an assistant city attorney. She is licensed in both ND and MN and is a Rule 114 qualified neutral. Outside of Nycklemoe & Ellig, since 2012 Kelsee has been the owner of KM Family Law Consulting, PLLC, providing custody evaluation, parenting consultant and expeditor, and mediation services. Beyond practicing law, Kelsee enjoys cooking, baking, reading, and working out. She and her husband Joe, also of Nycklemoe and Ellig, love spending time with their daughter and dog, Mia.
